SDImpacts Environment Code of Conduct.

SDI is committed to preserving our natural environment and eliminating wasteful consumption of goods and energy. And it starts at home, at our own offices and in how we conduct our daily business operations. Here is a sampling of how SDI strives to minimize our ecological impact, perhaps you will consider these green guidelines in your organization:

Adjust the power settings on your computer to save energy.
When in Windows Control Panel, select Power Options. At a minimum, we recommend the monitor shut off automatically after a short period of time (10 minutes) when not in use.

Turn off your computer at the end of the day.
System updates may need to run when you restart in the AM, but keeping your computer off saves electricity otherwise wasted while you are away.

Turn off your office lights at night & when you step away.
Even if you are just going to a meeting, every bit helps! During summer months, close your blinds on hot sunny days to minimize solar heat gain. Your office will stay cooler and the air conditioning system will use less electricity.

Unplug unused electrical devices.
If you have a mobile phone or PDA charger plugged in and nothing attached, unplug it until you need it for charging. Even when the power is shut off, a small amount of electricity is drawn by certain electrical components. This applies to most commonly-used electrical accessories.

Print & copy on both sides of the paper whenever practical.
This can reduce paper consumption and expense by 50%! Plus, large documents are lighter and easier to transport. Better yet, don't print unless you have to.

Recycle!
Recycling bins for paper are located at individual desks and by print output devices. Glass & aluminum recycling containers are available in the kitchen area at 33 W. Monroe. Used batteries should be brought to the front desk.

Avoid disposable products and reuse practical items.
As part of your daily routine, utilize reusable and ecologically sound products. Use a glass instead of a paper cup. Don't throw away a plastic or paper bag, keep it tucked away so it can be used again.
